What & Why

The ABC's of movement are the fundamental building blocks for almost every physical skill. They help you perform better in games, prevent injuries, and move with more confidence in your daily life.Agility (A): The ability to start, stop, and change direction quickly and under control. Think of a basketball player dodging a defender.Balance (B): The ability to maintain control of your body's position, whether you are stationary or moving. Think of a gymnast on a balance beam.Coordination (C): The ability to use your senses (like sight) together with your body parts to perform tasks smoothly and accurately. Think of catching a baseball.

Example 1 — Agility Cone Weave

This drill helps you practice changing direction quickly. You can use cones, shoes, or water bottles as markers.Set up 5-8 markers in a straight line, about one big step apart from each other.Start at one end and weave through the markers as fast as you can without touching them.Focus on staying low to the ground and using quick, choppy steps. When you reach the end, turn around and weave back to the start.Try doing this for 30 seconds, rest, and repeat 3 times.

Example 2 — Balance Stork Stand

This simple exercise is great for improving your stability.Stand on a flat, non-slip surface.Lift one foot and place the sole of that foot on the inside of your opposite knee or calf (avoid pressing directly on your knee joint).Find a spot on the wall in front of you to focus on. This helps you stay steady.Try to hold this position for 30 seconds without wobbling or putting your foot down.Switch legs and repeat. For an extra challenge, try closing your eyes for a few seconds!
