What & Why

Water is Your Body's Super Fuel!Did you know that your body is mostly made of water? It's true! Just like a car needs gas to go and a plant needs water to grow, your body needs water to work right. Water helps you in so many ways:Energy: It helps turn your food into energy so you can run, jump, and play.Brain Power: It helps you think clearly and focus in school.Cooling Down: When you get hot, your body sweats. That's water helping you cool off!Moving & Grooving: Water keeps your joints moving smoothly so you don't feel stiff.Staying 'hydrated' just means making sure you have enough water in your body to do all these amazing jobs.

Example 1 — The Soccer Star

Meet Alex. Alex loves playing soccer, and wants to have enough energy for the whole game. Before the Game: An hour before the game, Alex drinks a big glass of water. This gives his body fuel to start with.During the Game: At halftime, the coach gives everyone a water break. Alex feels thirsty and drinks from his water bottle until he's not thirsty anymore. He chooses water over a sugary sports drink. After the Game: Alex is tired but proud! He drinks more water on the car ride home to help his muscles recover. The Result: By drinking water before, during, and after, Alex had the power to play his best and felt great later!
