A cool-down is when we do slow, gentle movements after being very active, like after running or playing a game.Why do we do it? It helps our heart slow down safely, keeps our muscles from getting tight or sore, and makes our whole body feel calm and relaxed.

Example 1 — The Tall Giraffe Stretch

Let's stretch up to the sky like a tall giraffe!Stand with your feet a little bit apart.Reach both arms straight up over your head. Try to touch the clouds!Hold the stretch as you slowly count to 10.Feel the stretch all along your sides and in your arms.

Example 2 — The Sleepy Cat Stretch

Pretend you are a sleepy cat waking up from a nap.Get on your hands and knees.Gently round your back up towards the ceiling, tucking your chin. Meow!Hold for a moment.Slowly lower your back to a flat position.
