Entrevistas Familiares (Family Interviews): Speaking Practice

Interview a family member and ask them about their life, interests, and memories.

What you'll learn

  • Conduct a structured interview in Spanish with a family member for at least 5 minutes, asking at least 5 pre-approved questions related to family history and traditions, demonstrating accurate pronunciation and appropriate grammar in at least 4 out of 5 sentences, as evaluated by a rubric.
  • Formulate at least 3 follow-up questions in Spanish, based on the family member's responses during the interview, demonstrating comprehension of the answers and the ability to spontaneously generate relevant inquiries, as assessed by the teacher.
  • Summarize, in Spanish, the key information gathered during the interview, including at least 3 specific details about family history or traditions, using complete sentences with correct verb conjugations and vocabulary related to family, as evidenced by a written summary graded according to a rubric.
  • Demonstrate active listening skills during the interview by responding appropriately to the family member's answers with verbal cues (e.g., "¡Qué interesante!", "¿De verdad?") and non-verbal cues (e.g., nodding, maintaining eye contact) at least 3 times, as observed by the teacher.
