Locomotor skills are how we move from one place to another. Think about walking, hopping, skipping, and galloping! Body control is being the boss of your body — making it start, stop, and stay steady without falling over. Learning these skills helps us play safely, be strong, and have great control during games and activities.

Example 1 — Freeze Dance Fun
Let's play Freeze Dance! It's a super fun way to practice starting and stopping.Start the music! When you hear the music, start moving around the room. You can walk, dance, skip, or hop.Listen carefully. A grown-up or friend will stop the music without warning.FREEZE! The second the music stops, freeze your body like a statue. Don't move a muscle!Hold your pose. Try to stay perfectly still until the music starts again. Then, it's time to dance!

Example 2 — One-Foot Balance
Can you balance like a flamingo? This challenge helps make your legs strong and your balance super steady.Stand tall. Start with both feet flat on the floor.Lift one leg. Slowly lift one foot off the ground. You can bend your knee or hold your foot.Count to five. Try to hold your balance while you count: 1... 2... 3... 4... 5! It's okay if you wobble.Switch feet. Put your foot down and try balancing on the other one. You can put your arms out to the side like airplane wings to help!
