What & Why
Moving our body from one spot to another is called a locomotor skill. Walking, running, and jumping are all locomotor skills! We will also practice body control, which means making our body do exactly what we want it to do.Pretending to be animals is a super fun way to practice moving and controlling our bodies in new ways!

Example 1 — The Mighty Bear Crawl
The Bear Crawl helps us build strong arms and legs!Get on your hands and feet, with your back flat like a table.Keep your bottom down, not way up in the air.Move your right hand and your left foot forward at the same time.Now move your left hand and your right foot forward at the same time.Try to move slowly and feel strong like a big bear walking through the forest!

Example 2 — The Leaping Frog Jump
Frog Jumps help us learn to use our leg power and land safely.Start by squatting down low, like a frog ready to leap.Place your hands on the floor in front of you, between your feet.Look forward to see where you are going.Push off with your strong legs and JUMP forward!Land softly on your feet, bending your knees to soak up the landing. Ribbit!
