Grammar Rules & Patterns
Gender Agreement Rule
Adjective ending must match the noun's gender. If the adjective ends in -o, change it to -a for a feminine noun.
Use this rule when describing a feminine noun. For example, 'el plátano amarillo' (masculine) becomes 'la banana amarilla' (feminine).
Number Agreement Rule
If the noun is plural, the adjective must be plural too. Add -s to adjectives ending in a vowel. Add -es to adjectives ending in a consonant.
Use this rule when you are describing more than one thing. For example, 'la flor bonita' (singular) becomes 'las flores bonitas' (plural).
Placement Rule
In Spanish, most adjectives go AFTER the noun they describe.
