Introduction & Learning Objectives

Learning Objectives Identify and name at least 5 common weekend activities in Spanish. Use the present tense 'yo' form of regular -AR verbs to describe their own weekend activities (e.g., 'Yo juego...'). Use simple adjectives to describe activities and foods, making them agree with the noun (e.g., 'pizza deliciosa'). Ask and answer the question '¿Qué haces los fines de semana?' (What do you do on weekends?). Form simple sentences combining an activity verb with a noun (e.g., 'Yo miro la televisión'). Recognize vocabulary for places related to weekend activities, such as 'el parque' and 'el cine'. ¡Hola! ¿Qué te gusta hacer cuando no hay escuela? 🥳 Let's talk about all the fun things we do on weekends...

Grammar Rules & Patterns

Present Tense 'Yo' form for -AR Verbs Take the -AR off the verb and add -O. When you talk about what *you* do, you change the end of the verb. For verbs like 'mirar' (to watch), you take off the 'ar' and add 'o' to make 'miro' (I watch). Adjective Agreement (Singular) Adjectives must match the gender of the noun they describe. If a noun is feminine (often ends in -a), the adjective should also be feminine (often ends in -a). In Spanish, describing words have to match the word they describe. For example, 'la pizza' is a feminine word, so you say 'la pizza es deliciosa', not 'delicioso'.
