Grammar Rules & Patterns

Present Tense -AR Verbs (Yo Form) Take the -AR off the verb and add an -O. When you want to say that 'I' am doing an action, you change the end of the verb. For verbs ending in -AR, like 'hablar', you drop the -AR and add -o to make 'hablo'. This means 'I talk'. Adjective Agreement (Gender) Adjectives must match the gender of the noun they describe. In Spanish, nouns are either masculine (often ending in -o, like 'el jugo') or feminine (often ending in -a, like 'la fruta'). The describing word must match! If the noun is feminine, the adjective usually ends in -a ('fruta deliciosa'). If it's masculine, the adjective usually ends in -o ('jugo delicioso').
