What & Why
Puberty is a special time when your body starts to change and grow into an adult's body. It's a natural part of life, and everyone goes through it!These changes are caused by tiny messengers in your body called hormones. This lesson will focus on the changes you can see on the outside of your body.

Example 1 — Getting Taller
One of the first things you might notice is a growth spurt. This is when your body grows very quickly in a short amount of time.Your pants and sleeves might suddenly seem too short. You might feel a little clumsy as you get used to your longer arms and legs. You might feel aches in your legs, sometimes called 'growing pains'.This is a great sign that your body is growing strong! Eating healthy foods and getting plenty of sleep helps your body during this time.

Example 2 — New Hair Growth
