What & Why
Striking games are where you use a body part (like your hand or foot) or an implement (like a bat or a racket) to hit an object. Target games are all about sending that object to a specific spot or target. Why is this important? It helps build your hand-eye coordination (making your hands and eyes work together), improves your focus, and is a great way to have fun and be active!

Example 1 — Soccer Shootout
Let's practice kicking a ball to a target, like a cone or a spot on a wall.Place the ball: Put the soccer ball on the ground a few steps away from your target.Get Ready: Take a few steps back from the ball. Stand with your feet comfortably apart.Aim: Look at your target, then look down at the ball, then look back at your target. This helps your brain aim.Approach and Kick: Take a few steps toward the ball and swing your kicking leg. For the best accuracy, try to kick with the inside of your foot.Follow Through: After you kick, let your leg keep swinging forward toward the target. This helps guide the ball where you want it to go!

Example 2 — Bucket Toss
This is a great game for practicing underhand throwing. All you need is a ball and a bucket or hoop.Face the Target: Stand facing the bucket. Hold the ball in the hand you write with (your dominant hand).Step Forward: As you get ready to toss, step forward with your opposite foot. If you throw with your right hand, step with your left foot.Swing Like a Pendulum: Swing your arm back gently, then swing it forward smoothly.Release: Let go of the ball when your hand is pointing at the target.Eyes on the Prize: Keep looking at the bucket the entire time.
