What & Why
Hand dribbling is when you bounce a ball continuously with one hand without catching it. It's a key skill in many sports!Learning to dribble helps you control the ball while you are standing still or moving around. This means you can keep the ball away from others and get to where you want to go in a game.

Example 1 — The Statue Dribble
This is how you dribble in one spot. Imagine you're a statue that can bounce a ball!Stand with your feet about as wide as your shoulders and bend your knees a little. This gives you good balance.Hold the ball in your stronger hand.Push the ball down towards the ground using your fingertips, not the palm of your hand. Think of it as a gentle push, not a hard slap.As the ball comes back up, meet it with your fingertips and push it down again. Try to keep the bounces low, around your waist.Practice looking up for a few seconds at a time instead of staring at the ball.

Example 2 — The Walking Dribble
Now let's try dribbling while moving. It's like taking your ball for a walk!Start with the Statue Dribble to get a good rhythm. As you push the ball down, take a step forward with the opposite foot (if you dribble with your right hand, step with your left foot).Push the ball slightly in front of you so you can walk towards it.Keep your head up to see where you are going. Start slowly and try to keep the dribble at waist height.
