What & Why
Being a good sport means you are kind and fair to everyone during a game, whether you win or lose. A big part of this is cheering for everyone!This means saying nice things and clapping for good plays, no matter who makes them. Why do we do this?It makes other people feel happy and proud.It makes the game more fun for everybody.It shows you are a kind and respectful player.

Example 1 — Cheering for a Teammate
Your teammate, Leo, is playing soccer with you. He kicks the ball and scores a goal for your team! What can you do to cheer for him?Smile! Show him you are happy for him and the team.Clap your hands. This is a great way to show support without words.Use kind words. You can say, "Great kick, Leo!" or "Yay, our team!"

Example 2 — Cheering for the Other Team
You are playing catch. A player on the other team, Maya, makes an amazing jump to catch the ball. It was a really cool play! How can you be a good sport?Notice the great play. See that she did something awesome.Clap for her. It's okay to clap for a good play, even if it's not your team.Say something nice. You can tell your own teammate, "Wow, that was a nice catch!" This shows you respect all good players.
