Think of the preterite as a camera snapshot 📸. It captures a specific moment or a series of distinct moments. Keywords: ayer, anoche, el año pasado, de repente.
Rule of the Imperfect: The 'Description' Tense
Use the imperfect for descriptions (physical, emotional); ongoing past actions; habitual actions; and setting the scene (time, weather, age).
