Asking Where Something Is
¿Dónde está + el/la + [singular noun]?
To ask where one specific item is, always start with '¿Dónde está?' and then add the name of the item with 'el' or 'la' in front of it.
Answering Where Something Is
El/La [noun] + está + [preposition] + el/la + [place].
To answer, start with the item, use the verb 'está', add a location word (like 'en' or 'sobre'), and then say where it is.
Using 'el' and 'la'
Use 'el' for masculine nouns. Use 'la' for feminine nouns.
Remember that in Spanish, all objects are either masculine or feminine. We have to use the correct word, 'el' or 'la', to match the noun. For example, 'el libro'...
