Grammar Rules & Patterns

Conjugating -AR Verbs (Yo Form) Verb-AR + o (Example: comprar -> compro) When you want to say 'I' am doing an action, you take an -AR verb, remove the -AR at the end, and add the letter 'o'. This works for verbs like 'comprar' (to buy), 'necesitar' (to need), and 'buscar' (to look for). Adjective Agreement (Gender) Feminine Noun + Feminine Adjective (-a) / Masculine Noun + Masculine Adjective (-o) In Spanish, words have a gender (masculine or feminine). Describing words (adjectives) must match the noun. If a noun ends in -a, like 'manzana' (apple), its color also ends in -a ('roja'). If a noun ends in -o, like 'plátano' (banana), its color ends in -o ('amarillo').
