The Story
Ten-year-old Kai sat at the lunch table with a bag of crunchy carrots. He saw his friend, Mei, unwrapping a shiny red apple. Kai loved apples. He offered Mei his whole bag of carrots for her apple. "No thanks, Kai," Mei said politely. "I'm not in the mood for carrots today." Kai felt disappointed. He then offered the carrots to his other friend, Diego, for his juice box, but Diego didn't want carrots either. Kai realized it was really hard to trade for something when nobody wanted what he had.
