What & Why
In sports, things happen fast! 'If-then' thinking is a simple but powerful tool to help you make quick decisions. It works like this:IF a certain situation happens...THEN I will do a specific action.By thinking this way before the action happens, you're not surprised. You're prepared to react instantly, which gives you a huge advantage over your opponents.

Example 1 — Basketball
Imagine you're dribbling the ball up the court.IF... a defender is guarding you very closely, giving you no room to breathe.THEN... you could do a quick crossover dribble to create space and drive past them towards the basket.Thinking this ahead of time means you don't panic when the defender gets close. You already have a plan!

Example 2 — Soccer
You're a midfielder with the ball, looking to make a pass.IF... you see the other team's goalie has come way out from the goal line.THEN... you could try to take a long shot, aiming for the open net. This is a great example of 'reading the game.' You noticed a weakness (the goalie's position) and had a plan to take advantage of it.
