What & Why

Stance, Posture, and Balance are your body's ABCs for movement. Stance is how you position your feet. Posture is how you hold your whole body. Balance is your ability to stay steady and in control. Why do they matter? A solid base helps you generate more power, react faster, and prevent injuries, whether you're playing sports, dancing, or just carrying your backpack. It's the secret to moving well and with confidence!

Example 1 — The Athletic 'Ready' Stance

This is your go-to stance for many sports, like basketball, volleyball, or tennis. It gets you ready to move quickly in any direction!Place your feet about shoulder-width apart.Bend your knees slightly, like you're about to sit in a chair. This lowers your center of gravity.Keep your back straight and chest up. Avoid slouching!Rest your weight on the balls of your feet, not your heels.Keep your head up and eyes forward, ready for action.

Example 2 — The Split Stance for Power

Use this stance when you need to throw a ball, do a lunge, or swing a bat. It provides stability and helps you transfer energy through your body.Step one foot forward and one foot back, keeping them about hip-width apart for balance.Bend both knees. Your back heel might lift off the ground slightly.Keep your hips and shoulders facing mostly forward.Distribute your weight evenly between both feet to start.
