Example 1 — The Huddle
The Situation:In a soccer game, the coach calls the team together for a quick huddle before a corner kick.Good Team Talk:The captain says, “Okay team, listen up. The plan is for Maria to kick the ball near the front post. Leo and Sam, you run towards that spot. Everyone else, be ready for the rebound!”Active Listening:Everyone stops talking, makes eye contact with the captain, and nods to show they understand their job.The Result:Because they communicated a clear plan and everyone listened, the team works together smoothly and has a good chance to score.

Example 2 — The Encouraging Word
The Situation:During a basketball game, your teammate Alex takes a shot and misses. Alex looks down and seems disappointed.Good Team Talk:Instead of saying nothing or getting upset, you jog over to Alex and say, “Hey, great try! That was so close. You’ll get the next one for sure!” You could also give a quick high-five.The Impact:Alex feels better and isn't afraid to try shooting again. Your positive words keep the whole team's energy up and make everyone feel supported.
