What & Why

Supporting your teammates means cheering for them, helping them when they need it, and staying positive, even when things get tough. Why does it matter? Because good teamwork isn't just about winning; it's about building friendships, trusting each other, and making sure everyone feels like an important part of the team. When you help your teammates, you all succeed together!

Example 1 — The Encouraging Cheer

Imagine you're playing soccer. Your teammate, Alex, takes a shot at the goal but misses. Instead of groaning or saying "You should have made that," you can be a supportive teammate!See the miss: You see the ball go wide of the net.Think positive: Remember that everyone makes mistakes and trying your best is what counts.Act supportive: Jog over to Alex, give a high five, and say, "Great try, Alex! We'll get the next one!"This makes Alex feel better and ready to try again, instead of feeling down.

Example 2 — The Helping Hand

You're in the middle of a relay race. Your teammate, Maria, is running ahead of you. Suddenly, she trips and falls. The other teams start passing her.Notice the fall: You see Maria on the ground.Prioritize safety: The most important thing is making sure your teammate is okay. The race can wait a second.Offer a hand: You run up to her and ask, "Are you okay?" You offer your hand to help her get back up.This shows that you care more about your teammates than just winning, which builds a strong and caring team.
