What & Why

Waiting for your turn is called being patient. It means you can wait calmly without getting upset.Why is it important? Because it's fair! When we take turns, everyone gets a chance to play. It also keeps us safe, like when only one person goes down the slide at a time.

You and your friends want to go on the big, twisty slide!You see a line of kids waiting.You feel so excited and want to go right now!But you remember to be patient. You walk to the end of the line.While you wait, you watch your friends slide down and cheer for them.Soon, it's your turn! Whee! Because everyone waited, everyone got a safe turn.

Your class has one basketball to play with at recess.Everyone wants to shoot a basket.Instead of grabbing the ball, you and your friends make a plan.You decide to make a line. The first person shoots, gets their ball, and gives it to the next person.You cheer for your friends when they make a basket.When it's your turn, you take your shot. Everyone is happy because the game is fair.
