The Subjunctive Formula with Impersonal Expressions
Es + [adjetivo] + QUE + [Subject 2] + [Verb in Subjunctive]
Use this formula when the main clause (Es + adjetivo) expresses an opinion or necessity about a different subject in the second clause. The word 'que' is essential to connect the two clauses.
Present Subjunctive Conjugation: Regular Verbs
1. Start with the 'yo' form of the present indicative (e.g., hablo, como, vivo). 2. Drop the '-o'. 3. Add the opposite vowel endings: -e, -es, -e, -emos, -éis, -en for -ar verbs; -a, -as, -a, -amos, -áis, -an for -er/-ir verbs.
This three-step process is the key to forming the present subjunctive for most verbs. Remember: -ar verbs get -e endings, and -er/-ir verbs get -a endings.
