The Two-Subject Subjunctive Rule
[Subject 1] + [Verb of Wish in Indicative] + QUE + [Subject 2] + [Verb in Subjunctive]
Use this formula when the person wishing (Subject 1) is different from the person who is supposed to perform the action (Subject 2). The word 'que' is essential to connect the two clauses.
The One-Subject Infinitive Rule
[Subject 1] + [Verb of Wish in Indicative] + [Verb in Infinitive]
Use this formula when the person wishing is the same person who will perform the action. Because there is only one subject, you do not use 'que' or the subjunctive. Instead, you use the infinitive form of the second verb.
