1. Start with the 'yo' form of the present indicative.
2. Drop the final '-o'.
3. Add the 'opposite' vowel ending: '-e' for -ar verbs, and '-a' for -er/-ir verbs.
This is the fundamental pattern for creating almost all formal commands. It directly mirrors the formation of the present subjunctive for 'usted'.
The Irregulars: 'DISHES'
Memorize the key irregulars using the mnemonic DISHES: Dar -> dé; Ir -> vaya; Ser -> sea; Haber -> haya; Estar -> esté; Saber -> sepa.
