Forming the Present Subjunctive
1. Start with the 'yo' form of the present indicative (e.g., hablar -> hablo). 2. Drop the '-o' (habl-). 3. Add the opposite ending: '-e, -es, -e, -emos, -éis, -en' for -AR verbs; '-a, -as, -a, -amos, -áis, -an' for -ER/-IR verbs.
This three-step formula is the key to conjugating most verbs in the present subjunctive. Remember to apply any stem changes from the 'yo' form (e.g., tener -> tengo -> tenga).
