Grammar Rules & Patterns
Rule 1: Agreement in Gender & Number
Possessive Adjective + Noun (that matches in gender and number)
'Nuestro' and 'vuestro' have four forms. You must choose the form that matches the GENDER and NUMBER of the thing being owned, not the owner. 'Su' only changes for number (su/sus).
Rule 2: The Meaning of 'Su' and 'Sus'
Su/Sus = his, her, its, your (formal), their, your (plural, Latin America)
The word 'su' is very flexible. You have to use the context of the conversation to know who the owner is. For example, 'Veo su coche' could mean 'I see his car,' 'her car,' 'their car,' or 'your car.'
Rule 3: 'Vuestro' vs. 'Su' for 'You All'...
