Grammar Rules & Patterns

Conjugating -ER Verbs yo -o, tú -es, él/ella/Ud. -e, nosotros -emos, ellos/ellas/Uds. -en To say who is doing an action, you must change the ending of the verb. For verbs that end in -ER, like 'leer' (to read), you remove the -ER and add the correct new ending. For example, 'I read' is 'Yo leo'. Conjugating -IR Verbs yo -o, tú -es, él/ella/Ud. -e, nosotros -imos, ellos/ellas/Uds. -en Verbs that end in -IR, like 'escribir' (to write), have endings that are very similar to -ER verbs. The only difference in this group is the 'nosotros' form, which ends in '-imos'. For example, 'We write' is 'Nosotros escribimos'.
