How to Conjugate -ER Verbs Step 1: Start with the infinitive. Step 2: Drop the -ER ending to find the stem. Step 3: Add the correct new ending that matches the subject. This is the main pattern for all regular -ER verbs in the present tense. You must follow these steps every time to make the verb agree with the subject. Present Tense -ER Endings yo: -o | tú: -es | él/ella/usted: -e | nosotros/nosotras: -emos | ellos/ellas/ustedes: -en These are the special endings for -ER verbs. You must memorize which ending goes with which subject pronoun. Notice some are different from the -AR endings you already know!
