Grammar Rules & Patterns
Masculine vs. Feminine: 'El' y 'La'
Use 'el' for masculine words. Use 'la' for feminine words.
In Spanish, all objects are either masculine or feminine. We use 'el' (like for 'el árbol') or 'la' (like for 'la flor') to say 'the'.
Making Plurals: Adding '-s' or '-es'
If a word ends in a vowel (a, e, i, o, u), add '-s'. If it ends in a consonant, add '-es'.
This is how we talk about more than one thing. One flower is 'la flor'. Two flowers are 'las flores'.
Describing with 'Hay'
'Hay' means 'There is' or 'There are'.
