Grammar Rules & Patterns

Using 'el' and 'la' for Nature Words 'el' is for masculine words. 'la' is for feminine words. In Spanish, all objects are 'he' or 'she'. Use 'el' before boy words like 'árbol' and 'la' before girl words like 'flor'. Saying What We MUST Do: 'Hay que...' Hay que + [action verb] Use 'Hay que' to say something is important to do. For example, 'Hay que reciclar' means 'One must recycle'. Saying What You LIKE To Do: 'Me gusta...' Me gusta + [action verb] Use 'Me gusta' to talk about actions you enjoy. For example, 'Me gusta plantar flores' means 'I like to plant flowers'.
