Grammar Rules & Patterns

Los días son masculinos (Days are masculine) Always use 'el' before a day of the week. We say 'el lunes' or 'el martes'. We do not say 'la lunes'. No mayúsculas (No capital letters) Days of the week start with a small letter. In Spanish, we write 'lunes', not 'Lunes', unless it is the first word in a sentence. La semana empieza en lunes (The week starts on Monday) Our song and calendar will start with 'lunes'. In many Spanish-speaking places, Monday is the first day of the week.
