Congruent FiguresGeometric figures that have the exact same size and shape. All of their corresponding sides and corresponding angles are equal. Two triangles are congruent if one can be moved (through a combination of rotation, reflection, or translation) to fit perfectly on top of the other.
Corresponding PartsThe matching sides and angles in two congruent figures. They are in the same relative position in each figure. If △ABC ≅ △DEF, then side AB corresponds to side DE, and angle ∠A corresponds to angle ∠D.
Corresponding AnglesAngles that are in the same position in two congruent figures. They always have equal measures. In congruent quadrilaterals ABCD and WXYZ, ∠B corresponds to ∠X, so m∠B = m∠X.
Corresponding SidesSides that are in the same position in two congrue...

Core Formulas
Property of Corresponding Sides
If Polygon ABCDE ≅ Polygon FGHIJ, then AB = FG, BC = GH, CD = HI, etc.
Use this rule to find the length of an unknown side. If you know two figures are congruent, you can set the lengths of their corresponding sides equal to each other.
Property of Corresponding Angles
If Polygon ABCDE ≅ Polygon FGHIJ, then m∠A = m∠F, m∠B = m∠G, m∠C = m∠H, etc.
Use this rule to find the measure of an unknown angle. If you know two figures are congruent, you can set the measures of their corresponding angles equal to each other.
