Match a given digital time to its corresponding analog clock face.
Solve problems involving matching times across different clock formats.
Explain the significance of AM and PM in daily scheduling.
Ever wondered why some clocks have hands and others just numbers? 🕰️ How do you know if '7:00' means morning or evening?
In this lesson, you'll become a time-telling expert! We'll explore how to read both analog and digital clocks, understand the difference between AM and PM, and learn about the 24-hour...

Key Concepts & Vocabulary
TermDefinitionExample
Analog ClockA clock that shows time using hands that move around a circular face with numbers or markings.A traditional wall clock with an hour hand and a minute hand.
Digital ClockA clock that displays time using numbers, usually in a 12-hour (with AM/PM) or 24-hour format. The time displayed on your phone, computer, or a microwave oven (e.g., 10:30 AM).
Hour HandThe shorter hand on an analog clock that points to the hour.If the hour hand is pointing just past the 3, it means the time is after 3 o'clock.
Minute HandThe longer hand on an analog clock that points to the minutes. Each number on the clock face represents 5 minutes. If the minute hand is pointing at the 6, it means 30 minutes past the hour (6 x 5 = 30).
AM (Ante Meridiem)Stands for 'before midday...

Core Formulas
Calculating Minutes from Minute Hand
$$\text{Minutes} = \text{Minute Hand Number} \times 5$$
To find the minutes on an analog clock, multiply the number the minute hand is pointing to (or just past) by 5. For example, if the minute hand is on the 7, it's $7 \times 5 = 35$ minutes.
Converting 12-Hour PM to 24-Hour Format
$$\text{24-Hour Time} = \text{12-Hour PM} + 12 \text{ hours (for 1:00 PM to 11:59 PM)}$$
For any time from 1:00 PM to 11:59 PM, add 12 to the hour to get the 24-hour equivalent. (Note: 12:00 PM (noon) remains 12:00 in 24-hour format).
Converting 24-Hour (13:00-23:59) to 12-Hour PM
$$\text{12-Hour PM} = \text{24-Hour Time} - 12 \text{ hours (for 13:00 to 23:59)}$$
For any time from 13:00 to 23:59 in 24-hour format, subtract 12 from the hour to get...
