The Hyphen Rule for Two-Digit Numbers
For numbers 21-99: (Tens Word) + '-' + (Ones Word)
When you write a two-digit number between 21 and 99, you must connect the word for the tens place and the word for the ones place with a hyphen. For example, 54 becomes 'fifty-four'.
The Pattern for Three-Digit Numbers
(Hundreds Word) + 'hundred' + (Two-Digit Number in Words)
First, write the word for the digit in the hundreds place, followed by the word 'hundred'. Then, write the remaining two-digit number. For example, for 862, you write 'eight hundred' and then 'sixty-two'.
