Core Formulas

Greater Than / Less Than Rule x > a (x is greater than a) and x < b (x is less than b) Use these symbols to understand the range of your number. The 'mouth' of the symbol always opens to the bigger number. For example, 'x > 10' means the number must be 11 or more. Multiple Rule Number = n \times k A number is a multiple of 'n' if it can be divided by 'n' with no remainder. For a clue like 'The number is a multiple of 4', you should think of your 4s multiplication facts (4, 8, 12, 16...). Digit Sum Rule For a number 'ab', the digit sum is a + b If you have a two-digit number, you can add the individual digits together. For the number 35, the sum of its digits is 3 + 5 = 8.
