Place ValuePlace value tells us where a digit lives in a number. Its home address! π In 123, the digit 1 lives in the hundreds place.
Ones PlaceThe ones place is the very last spot on the right. It tells us how many single items we have. πIn the number 45, the digit 5 is in the ones place.
Tens PlaceThe tens place is in the middle. It tells us how many groups of ten we have. ππππππππππIn the number 123, the digit 2 is in the tens place.
Hundreds PlaceThe hundreds place is the first spot on the left. It shows how many groups of one hundred we have. π¦In the number 789, the digit 7 is in the hundreds place.
