The Story
Tariq, who is 10, felt a heavy cloud over him ever since his parents separated. He tried to act brave for everyone, but inside he felt sad and scared. He stopped wanting to play soccer at recess. One day, his teacher, Ms. Sofia, noticed he was extra quiet. She knelt by his desk and said, "You know, the school counselor is a really good listener. I go talk to her sometimes, too, when I have big feelings." Tariq was surprised. An adult admitting they need help? He decided to try. The counselor was kind and just let him talk. He learned that being brave did not mean being silent. Brave meant asking for the help you need.
