The Story

Lena is 10. She used to love drawing colorful comics and playing outside with her friends. But for the past few weeks, she hasn't wanted to do anything. Her pencils just sit in their box, and she tells her friends she's too tired to play. She feels heavy and cries sometimes for no reason, which makes her feel confused. She thinks something is wrong with her. Her art teacher, Mr. David, notices she hasn't turned in a drawing. He gently asks if she's okay. Lena whispers, "I don't know what's wrong with me." Mr. David says, "Sometimes our brain needs extra help, just like our body does. Let's talk to the school counselor together." Lena started meeting with the counselor, who helped her understand that what she was feeling had a name and that it gets better with help.
