Key Rules & Conventions
The 'One' Rule (Singular)
One subject + verb with an -s.
If the subject is just one thing, the action verb usually gets an 's' at the end.
The 'More Than One' Rule (Plural)
More than one subject + verb with no -s.
If the subject is more than one, the action verb does not get an 's'.
The 'is' and 'are' Rule
Use 'is' for one. Use 'are' for more than one.
'is' and 'are' are special verbs. They tell us what something is like.
