What & Why
Our bodies need air to move, think, and grow! The air has something special in it called oxygen that gives us energy. When we move a lot, our body needs MORE energy, so we breathe faster and deeper to get more air. When we are still, our body doesn't need as much energy, so our breathing is slow and gentle.

Example 1 — Quiet Time Breaths
Let's feel our resting breaths!Sit down in a comfortable, quiet spot.Put one hand on your tummy.Close your eyes and breathe normally. Can you feel your hand move up and down just a little bit? These are your slow, calm, little breaths.

Example 2 — Walking Breaths
Now let's see what happens when we move a little.Stand up and walk around the room for one minute. You can pretend you are walking to the library.Stop and stand still.Put your hand on your chest. How does it feel now? It's a little faster, right? These are your medium breaths.
