Using 'Ser' for Professions Use the verb 'ser' to state a person's profession. Unlike English, you usually do NOT use an indefinite article (un/una) unless you are adding a descriptive adjective. When you identify someone by their job, it's considered a core characteristic. For example: 'Ella es abogada.' (She is a lawyer.) BUT 'Ella es una abogada excelente.' (She is an excellent lawyer.) Gender Agreement for Professions Many profession nouns change their ending to match the gender of the person. Nouns ending in -o change to -a.
