When to Use 'Ser'
Use 'Ser' for things that are long-lasting or part of an identity.
Think of the word DOCTOR: D-Description (She is tall), O-Occupation (He is a teacher), C-Characteristic (You are smart), T-Time (It is 2 o'clock), O-Origin (I am from Mexico), R-Relationship (She is my sister).
When to Use 'Estar'
Use 'Estar' for things that are temporary or can change.
Think of the word PLACE: P-Position (I am sitting), L-Location (We are at school), A-Action (He is running - used with other verbs), C-Condition (The window is broken), E-Emotion (They are happy).
