Ordering with 'Querer' Yo quiero + [food/drink item] Use this simple structure to say what you want to order. 'Querer' is an -ER verb that means 'to want'. For 'yo' (I), it is 'quiero'. Using Articles: El y La el + [masculine noun] / la + [feminine noun] All nouns in Spanish have a gender. Use 'el' for masculine words (like 'el pollo') and 'la' for feminine words (like 'la sopa'). The article must match the noun. Describing Food with 'Estar' La comida + está + [adjective] Use the verb 'estar' (to be) to describe the temporary condition of your food, like its temperature. For one item, you use 'está'.
