Grammar Rules & Patterns

Using 'el' and 'la' (The) Use 'el' for boy words (masculine). Use 'la' for girl words (feminine). In Spanish, all objects are either 'boy' or 'girl'. We use 'el' or 'la' to say 'the'. For example, 'el libro' (the book) and 'la mesa' (the table). Using 'Hay' (There is / There are) Say 'Hay' to tell what is in a place. It's super easy! 'Hay' works for one thing or many things.
