Greater Than Sign (>)
Bigger Number > Smaller Number
The alligator mouth always wants to eat the bigger number! π We say 'is greater than'. Example: 5 > 2.
Less Than Sign (<)
Smaller Number < Bigger Number
The alligator mouth points away from the smaller number. We say 'is less than'. Example: 1 < 3.
Equal To Sign (=)
Number = Same Number
The two lines mean both sides are the same. We say 'is equal to' or 'is the same as'. Example: 4 = 4.
