Core Formulas
The Touch and Count Rule
Touch each object only one time.
When you count, touch each thing once. This helps you not miss any or count one twice.
The Number Order Rule
Say numbers in the right order: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
We always say numbers in the same order. We start with 1, then 2, and so on.
The Last Number Rule
The last number you say is the total.
When you finish counting, the last number tells you 'how many' there are in all.
