Calculating Actual Distance from Map Scale
$\text{Actual Distance} = \text{Map Distance} \times \text{Scale Factor}$
To find the real-world distance, multiply the distance measured on the map by the value that 1 unit on the map represents in the real world. Ensure units are consistent or converted appropriately.
Adding and Subtracting Decimals
Align the decimal points vertically, then add or subtract as you would with whole numbers. Place the decimal point in the answer directly below the aligned decimal points.
