Calculating Total Cost Total Cost = Price_{Item 1} + Price_{Item 2} + ... To find the total cost of everything you want to buy, you add the price of each item together. Always line up the decimal points before adding. Calculating Change Change = Amount Paid - Total Cost To find the amount of change you should get back, you subtract the total cost of your items from the amount of money you give the cashier. Finding the Price Difference Difference = Higher Price - Lower Price To find out how much more one item costs than another, you subtract the lower price from the higher price.
