Core Formulas

Rounding to the Nearest Dollar Look at the cents. If Cents \ge 50ยข, round up. If Cents \le 49ยข, round down. Use this rule when you want to find the closest whole dollar. Look at the two digits after the decimal point. If they are 50 or more, you go up to the next dollar. If they are 49 or less, you keep the dollar amount the same. Rounding to the Nearest Ten Dollars Look at the ones place digit. If Digit \ge 5, round up. If Digit \le 4, round down. Use this rule when you want to find the closest ten-dollar bill amount. Look at the digit just before the decimal point. If it's 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, you go up to the next 'ten'. If it's 4, 3, 2, or 1, you go down to the lower 'ten'.
